 Coleambally Irrigation Mutual Co-operative Limited

Prior to privatisation of the Coleambally Irrigation District local irrigators/customers approved a dual co-operative structure. On 21 January 2000 Coleambally Irrigation Mutual Co-operative Limited was formed with the primary activity or purpose being the major refurbishment and replacement of the irrigation infrastructure. The infrastructure consists of earthen channels and drains (totalling some 1,200 kms), bridges, culverts, regulators, pipes, meters etc collectively valued at $141m. These assets have varying life expectancies of between 20-100 years. All members pay an asset levy per megalitre of delivery entitlement to fund the future replacement of the irrigation infrastructure.

Every five years, CICL engages independent consultants to carry out a Modern Engineering Equivalent Replacement Asset (MEERA) assessment of the irrigation district’s assets. This assessment in effect carries out a condition assessment of the assets together with forecast as to their remaining useful operational lives. CIMCL then engages independent actuaries to provide further specific independent financial advice.  MERCER conducted our last independent review in 2012.  Both reports can be accessed below.
